Astronautics with its technologies, technical possibilities and
stimulating influence in many spheres is the basis of progress. Success
in scientific and applied space research has been our country's great
achievement. We ought to be proud of these successes and cherish them
because they are not only prestigious scentific achievements and
progress but also the guarantee of country's strategic defense.
The Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center was created
by the Russian Federation Presidential Decree of June 7, 1993. The Center
consist of two of the largest Russian produces of aviation and rocket
and space technology - the Khrunichev Machinebuilding plant and the
"Salyut" Design Bureau. The last two years have shown this
kind of co-operation to be valuable. The efficiency of the Space
Center's activities increased and Russian space technologies have
penetrated the world market more deeply. The history of our enterprise
is the history of the establishment and development of Russian strategic
aviation and intercontinental ballistic missiles, advanced space
technology, launch vehicles and orbital stations "Salyut",
"Mir", space modules "Kvant, "Kvant-2", "Kristall",
"Spektr" and "Priroda".
It is also the history of new technology development, the expansion
on the commercial launch market, participation in the realization of
international programs and, most important, the preservation and
strengthening of leading positions in Space development. Participation
in the creation of the International space station "Alpha" and
of the global satellite communications system "Iridium",
contracts on twenty commercial launches within the framework of the
"Loral", "Astra-1F"(SES), "Inmarsat",
"PanAmSat", "Hughes", and "Echostar"
programs, the creation of the middle class launcher "Rokot"
and the new heavy class launcher "Angara" - this is an
incomplete list of the enterprise's present activities.
It should be noted that the Khrunichev Space Center first of all on
the world market provides work for 70 subcontractors not only in Russia
but also in the CIS.
Now the Space Center is entering the period of practical work with
the "Proton" commercial launches and it is important that we
satisfy all our foreign partners' demands regarding services and
instrumentation quality. The modernization of the Baikonur cosmodrome's
facilities was based on the wishes of our clients and made it possible
to achieve all necessary standards for the foreign satellite launches.
The scientific potential, dynamic development and production quality
of the Khrunichev State Space Center make it possible even today to
offer a wide range of competitive products and services which correspond
to the top standards of the world market. However the Space Center
management believes that only partner consolidation and mutually
beneficial cooperation in space development can produce good results.
"Cooperation for success" is the Khrunichev State Space
Center's motto.
